Oh Mama

I took Dylan to his first day of Vacation Bible School this morning and saw a lot of friends I haven't seen in quite a while (pregnancy and weeks of sickness haven't helped my social life) and I got the comment "you are actually looking pregnant now." I guess I will be flattered.
At almost 38 weeks, I am feeling really good lately. My only complaints are minor but include pinched nerves (or something) right where my leg meets my body when I get up from sitting for a long time or just from walking, some Braxton Hicks (practice/fake contractions-which are perfectly normal and don't mean anything really) and just the general feeling of being big. Baby boy doesn't have much room left and when he stretches, all of my organs get rearranged.
Shane has been really sweet lately and has been helping me around the house and always asking how I'm doing or feeling. I think it is finally sinking in that D-day could be anyday now. The kids also emptied the dishwasher tonight and then helped me fold baby clothes and organize everything to make sure we are ready. (I got free and clear detergent, which Shane thinks is sort of a waste of money, but it's only little clothes so a little bottle should go a long way) I am excited to know that the kids are looking forward to meeting their little brother and not dreading him. I just keep hoping and praying that I can continue to be the best mom I can be to the two kids I have now and that I can focus on giving each child the specific attention that they need.

  1. YOU......... are such a great mommy!!! The kids and Shane are blessed to have you. Sure I'm biased, but I still believe it to be true.

I'm glad to hear you are feeling well overall.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Soaking it all In

Because I have a bad habit of zoning out when the tv is on, I've turned it off and told myself it can't come on until a rerun of a show I wanted to see comes on at 11. I can't stay up late so I'm trying to watch shows that will rerun, which is most of them outside of the basic cable channels. So obviously instead of working on my homework about Intercultural Crossings in Indian Music while Lincoln is taking a nap, I'm on here updating you on the trivial matters of my day. A friend told me an interesting revelation the other day. "When you have a child that is an infant you are the most physically exhausted. When you have a child that is just entering school aged you are the most mentally exhausted. When you have a teenager you are the most emotionally exhausted." So the way I see it, since I have one in each category I'm basically the most exhausted I'm going to get and since I'm seeming to do ok, it's only going to get easier from here. Y...

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...
