March and April Catch Up

No I haven't been busy with any new business ventures, exciting news or unforeseen circumstances... I've just been feeling exhausted by my seemingly un-exhausting life. This not-so-supermom got worn down by whiney kids, parent group meetings, a mess producing house, all things MOPS and trying to be a supporting wife. Sickness got us down for weeks now (Shane had to take two sick days, why don't moms get sick days?). Both Shane and Warner went into the doctors to see what was going on and apparently nothing but a cold. Luckily we've all had a lot of resting, tv watching and now pumping ourselves with healthy foods, lots of fluids and getting fresh air when we can. Before the sickness hit I actually had my first real paying job in years. I proctored a test at Central Washington University. It was so different to interact with adults and sit in a room in silence for 5 hours. Shane also got the experience of all three boys alone for an entire day ;-) We've also started taking a short parenting class so I have been eagerly applying what I am learning... except I am so accustomed to the days of yelling and what not that it has been slow progress. So yes life has been busy and exciting but also pretty boring. We have Warner's first birthday coming up in two weeks and school letting out in about seven so I realize it's high time I get my act in order. So let's see... here are some of my favorite pictures from the last few weeks:

Warner loved throwing out Easter grass and eggs... and he is STANDING on his own!

Cutie pie at the playground, Off screen is Lincoln  who dropped his shorts and peed in the middle of the field.

All 4 kids.

If you look below Warner's ear and to the left you can see his long curly hairs. He has  one behind each of his ears... maybe all the other long hair rubbed off when he got a bald spot as a baby? Either way it looks like he might be another curly Q like Lincoln.

Lincoln trying to decide what to wear. He has taken to the habit of taking his clothes out of his drawers to see all his options. Lucky mom is trying to teach him how to put the clothes back.

Lincoln crying because "my first couch" is leaving.

Warner playing IN his bin of toys.

Potty trained Lincoln thinks it's cool to pee outside, especially off the back deck.  I am so lucky.

Warner getting wet and wild with the water tray.

My boys. We love the backyard now that the neighbor's dogs are gone! This was about three seconds before Lincoln had enough of Warner trying to climb up to him and pushed him down with his foot causing the baby to get a sweet slide burn on his face.

My sick cuddly baby. He did not want to let go of that thermometer.

Lincoln and Dylan after they got hair cuts. We looked up pictures of James Bond's hair in the movie Skyfall as an example for Dylan, my sweet spies.

Me and my babe.

Someone is learning from his older brothers.

Someone else is trying to be creative. Luckily a magic eraser and a little elbow grease on Lincoln's part took it right off.

Lincoln, Luke and Warner enjoying a cousin visit and playing with the new couch.

  1. I like how you make your sometimes overwhelming life into a fun adventure. I used to say, "This will seem funny some day." Then I thought I should just enjoy how funny things are right when they happen instead of getting frustrated....ie Lincoln peeing off the deck. You live with a bunch of characters.

To Infinity and Beyond

Well beyond five years that is. February 22 marks our first date and somehow Shane even remembered that. Since I feel like a crumb-bum of a wife lately I set up a special little thing to show him how much these last five years have actually meant to me. (I get that it isn't our wedding anniversary but any day can be special so I wanted to make this special too) I wrote him a little love letter and put out five things that are meaningful in our relationship together, quite the mishmash if you ask me, but it works. In no particular order: 1. Motley Crue - We we to our first concert together over the summer to see Shane's favorite band and I got to get my 80's on while he got to relive the glory days. 2. The Spiderwick Chronicles - We went to see this movie with our nephews for our first official date. I think it's sweet that now the boys watch it all the time. 3. Coffee - We have shared many conversations, hours, and events all while drinking coffee. We both love it ...

Do's and Don'ts of Birthdays and Parties

My oldest son just turned 7 and since we are watching every cent going out I tried to be as creative as possible when coming up with the birthday of a life time (until next year).  Do: Make Them Feel Important Without Spending Money Waffles with chocolate syrup for breakfast are ok on a special day like this! (I love using a pizza cutter to slice waffles and pancakes for the little guys, especially Lincoln who is still learning to feed himself with a fork) Measuring on the wall of fame, we only write on it once a year now to make it exciting. Dylan grew about 3.25 inches in one year! This momma gets tired quicker than ever being 30+ weeks pregnant and chasing after a rowdy toddler so I didn't do the fanciest cakes (remember the volcano cake from birthday 4 or the mint chocolate chip cupcakes from last year) but I did find some cute stickers that have been in the house for years, put a matching one on both sides of a flat tooth pick and voila, cupcakes to compete with the best ...

Sisters

Who knew that when I was a kid, forced to share a room with my arch enemy, that one day I would grow up and have an automatic best friend? I finally realize how important siblings are in your life as I watch my boys play together. Yes I make them share and play together and take care of each other. They will always be around no matter how sad or angry you make them. Heck I sat on my sister when she was inside a sleeping bag and my friends and I used to tease her *Jackie, she is so tacky...* but I think she's forgiven me. She came for an overnight trip last week to meet Warner and to help me out around the house when Shane first went back to work and I couldn't be happier to have her in my life. I can text or call or facebook her any time to tell her a funny story or ask her for advice. We're even attempting to take all of our combine 5 kids (three under two!) on an 800+ miles on way road trip in a few weeks. I didn't appreciate all the family time when I was younger b...
