Handy Hobbies for Mom

Besides homemaking in a luxurious manufactured home, continuing to be wife material, and child rearing three rambunctious boys to be gentlemen in tomorrow's society, there is the rare occasion I do something for me. Over the summer I started making hand-painted signs for a craft fair and *almost* started an Etsy shop. I did all the steps but never actually listed any products because the thought of someone actually wanting to buy something I made was just too scary. I didn't end up doing a craft fair or selling anything, but I did make plenty of great gifts for Christmas and birthdays and also for my own home.
This went to my brother and sister-in-law.

For my sister.

I originally made this as a Christmas card holder but now use it to hold all of my long necklaces in  our bathroom.

I kept this one for myself too ;)

Homemade laundry detergent.
Soap On a Rope - handcrafted goats milk soap for the light hearted men in my family.

Up above our kitchen cabinets, Sadler & Co. family name sign.

I also picked up the camera again and took adorable pictures of my ragamuffins during the summer, our vacation, and into fall. These kids are so cute of film (I won't mention the zoo behind the lens).

Monkeying around in Kittitas, WA.

Sandy beard in Long Beach, WA.

King of the dunes in Gearhart, OR.

Summer sun and brick walls in Ellensburg, WA.

Family at Sunset. Olmstead State Park - WA.

Can you see the heart, Danielle, Dylan and Lincoln.

Because everyone has their own personality

  1. I love all of the pictures! You are so talented, but it helps that your kids are adorable, too! :) Why didn't you open an etsy shop??!!! I think you totally should! I love the sign you gave me and all of your stuff is so cute! It's pretty easy to promote stuff on Instagram now a days, so I think you should go for it!

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Soaking it all In

Because I have a bad habit of zoning out when the tv is on, I've turned it off and told myself it can't come on until a rerun of a show I wanted to see comes on at 11. I can't stay up late so I'm trying to watch shows that will rerun, which is most of them outside of the basic cable channels. So obviously instead of working on my homework about Intercultural Crossings in Indian Music while Lincoln is taking a nap, I'm on here updating you on the trivial matters of my day. A friend told me an interesting revelation the other day. "When you have a child that is an infant you are the most physically exhausted. When you have a child that is just entering school aged you are the most mentally exhausted. When you have a teenager you are the most emotionally exhausted." So the way I see it, since I have one in each category I'm basically the most exhausted I'm going to get and since I'm seeming to do ok, it's only going to get easier from here. Y...

New Moves

So I officially started feeling the baby moving around this week, Tuesday to be exact, and now I feel dancing all the time. It's pretty weird because it has been so long since I've housed a fetus and I know no one else can feel it from the outside, but it's really real. The picture I took on the left shows me holding a photo of a 17week baby to scale. It's hard to imagine something that big is fitting inside of me already :) We had the "Mom" talk today inside the Dollar Store. Danielle asked me if it was ok if she could call me Mom. She says I treat her the way a mom should treat her daughter and that made me so proud. I am so glad that even though we have our daily and weekly ups and downs that our family unit is really coming together.
