Too School for Cool

Well Lincoln is finally sleeping better (whoohoo!) except last night (boo!) but he did go easily to bed at 7:30pm (whoohoo!) although I set my alarm for 6:30am on a Saturday to work on my classes (boo!). I never realized what a commodity time was in my life. Hundreds of Thousands of parents do online college every day *I'm making that up but I'm sure it's accurate or even an underwhelming number* so I know it is possible but man I'm really having to rethink my schedule. The baby is starting to take longer naps so I have some time to work between 8:30 and 2:30, but nothing is guaranteed and I am SO not a night person anymore so my best bet is to get up early. After the kids get home it is a mad house until about 8. From signing behavior charts and explaining homework directions to building self confidence and re-explaining how the SATs work and then jumping into making dinner with one hand. My life is blessedly full. I knew going into it that two classes, or 10 credits, was going to really kick my butt, but I'm glad Shane talked me out of taking all three at once. My seemingly easy elective, Music in World Culture isn't really difficult but it is more time consuming that I realized. The difference is I don't go in for class time and I don't have a set time to work on it, so it feels like I am reading or discussing online or writing vocab. all day long whenever I have 5 minutes. My other class is Writing for Humanities and it is a great class, it's just a writing/English class so I knew I would be writing papers. I have one due on Monday that is half finished now but oh man procrastination is really taking over. I wanted to have it done last night so I could just go to Yakima today and then watch the Seahawks win tomorrow to make it into the playoffs so if I work on it an hour a day (oh puke) then by monday at 11:55pm I should have it done right?

  1. Keep it up my smart, brave, efficient, hard working daughter! Just whittle the assignments away and all of the sudden you'll realize you made it through....and pray a lot:) I understand since I'm taking a class on line--so much more homework than I thought! Love you sweetie and I continue to be proud of you and your amazingness.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

What the Happenings

Lincoln tried out Play-Doh for the first time a while ago. He really liked breaking it up into tiny pieces and trying to put it back in the container. And he didn't try to put it in his mouth too many times. As you can tell by the picture he got tired out from all the creativity pretty quickly so we'll try it again when he has a little more vigor for the squishy stuff. I think this picture is from our drive over to Richland a few weeks ago. We headed over there to visit Shane's grandma and the a bbq at his brothers house. The kids love pictures of themselves and Danielle took this picture of the both of them.  Waiting to get Shane's winter tires on the jeep, Lincoln had fun checking out the giant tires at Les Schwab. There was one big enough he could crawl into but he wasn't a fan of being shoved in there. He loves to climb and explore and get himself stuck, but only on his own accord. He does not like authority trying to tell him what to do (gee I wonder where ...

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...
