Ah School

It is bittersweet. Both of the older kids started school today. Lincoln is napping and I feel like I've lost a whole year of time. Where did that time go? A senior and a first grader, man life just keeps going. The days leading up to today have been crazy and hectic and wacky but fun. Today is the first day I can try and get back into a routine with Lincoln and also get back into getting things done for myself. My list of goals has sat nearly untouched over the summer just because I was trying to spend time with everyone and keep the masses happy. This year I am not taking any classes or doing much outside of the family. I will be involved in MOPS again, help with the kids school stuff and I think I am going to start going to the women's Bible study near the end of the month. Other than that I will just be honing my homemaking skills and playing with Lincoln.
Yesterday after we said goodbye to our out of town guests (my mom's aunt and uncle who live in California) we lounged around the house until the afternoon when I recut Dylan's hair for school, helped him pick out his clothes for the morning. Then we packed up the cooler to drop off at the elementary school to help with the Parent Group back to school night, then dropped off the salad dressing at the high school that the senior class needed for their fund raiser. After that we went back to the elementary school to meet Dylan's 1st grade teacher and to see who was in his class and to visit his kindergarten teacher. We played a little on the playground since it had been such a lazy day at home. After that we met Danielle at the high school and got her schedule, checked her locker to make sure it worked, talked to some of her teachers and then had dinner at the spaghetti feed. Danielle helped serve but since I had both the boys I didn't volunteer for this one. After that it was time to head home, get the bigger boy in to bed at a reasonable time and then fill out all the forms I had picked up earlier that day. Whew. I'm beat. Luckily the kids got up and off to school on time.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Soaking it all In

Because I have a bad habit of zoning out when the tv is on, I've turned it off and told myself it can't come on until a rerun of a show I wanted to see comes on at 11. I can't stay up late so I'm trying to watch shows that will rerun, which is most of them outside of the basic cable channels. So obviously instead of working on my homework about Intercultural Crossings in Indian Music while Lincoln is taking a nap, I'm on here updating you on the trivial matters of my day. A friend told me an interesting revelation the other day. "When you have a child that is an infant you are the most physically exhausted. When you have a child that is just entering school aged you are the most mentally exhausted. When you have a teenager you are the most emotionally exhausted." So the way I see it, since I have one in each category I'm basically the most exhausted I'm going to get and since I'm seeming to do ok, it's only going to get easier from here. Y...

New Moves

So I officially started feeling the baby moving around this week, Tuesday to be exact, and now I feel dancing all the time. It's pretty weird because it has been so long since I've housed a fetus and I know no one else can feel it from the outside, but it's really real. The picture I took on the left shows me holding a photo of a 17week baby to scale. It's hard to imagine something that big is fitting inside of me already :) We had the "Mom" talk today inside the Dollar Store. Danielle asked me if it was ok if she could call me Mom. She says I treat her the way a mom should treat her daughter and that made me so proud. I am so glad that even though we have our daily and weekly ups and downs that our family unit is really coming together.
