All Them Boys, All Them Toys

We definitely have a boy centered house. The weapon bin full of fake guns, grenades, swords and spy gear. A ball bin full of every kind of ball I can think of (except a volley ball which, of course, is what Danielle wants for the house now ;) ). Match box cars, Legos, Little People, Dinosaurs... you get the idea. So many toys so little room and we are about to add another boy and all his gear to the mix. But today I spent most of the day with the tv off (a small victory) and we took a quick trip over the mountains this weekend and what did my boys play with most? A present bag, dirt, and some fresh air. Lincoln is going through a really dependent stage right now (he will say Mama and grab my hand trying to get me to be where ever he wants to play) but luckily I've been able to sit where I am and watch a few times. I need to keep working on him being more independent but I still have a little more time before he isn't going to be my baby so I'm working on it.

Well at least he thinks he is a great gift for the moment.

Shaggy Linc with his "smile" face, somehow we have to teach him to open his eyes for the camera.

My big D

Cool shirt I made before I did it wrong and will have to make a new one... SOON!

Super Hero Muscles!

Costumes are getting slightly small for one of my guys.

A slightly confused hero (batman or spiderman?)

The damage from one blue Easter M&M.
Enjoying outside this afternoon. Dirty Fun.

Yes, my son is playing with a wooden stake.

"I make dirt look good."

Looking out in the field behind our house.

  1. I love them boys! I can't wait to see what the next one is like!

And for some reason I really like that picture of Linc in the brown shirt walking away from the camera.

  2. Trying my hand at being artistic :)

I keep wondering if the next one will have a dimple chin or not, that was a fun surprise with Linc.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

What the Happenings

Lincoln tried out Play-Doh for the first time a while ago. He really liked breaking it up into tiny pieces and trying to put it back in the container. And he didn't try to put it in his mouth too many times. As you can tell by the picture he got tired out from all the creativity pretty quickly so we'll try it again when he has a little more vigor for the squishy stuff. I think this picture is from our drive over to Richland a few weeks ago. We headed over there to visit Shane's grandma and the a bbq at his brothers house. The kids love pictures of themselves and Danielle took this picture of the both of them.  Waiting to get Shane's winter tires on the jeep, Lincoln had fun checking out the giant tires at Les Schwab. There was one big enough he could crawl into but he wasn't a fan of being shoved in there. He loves to climb and explore and get himself stuck, but only on his own accord. He does not like authority trying to tell him what to do (gee I wonder where ...

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...
