Wild Waves with Kiddos

This summer we took our "big family vacation" in several different places near Seattle. First stop was Wild Waves in Federal Way, WA. I had been to the water/theme park many times as a teenager but this was the first time I had been with my kids. It was funny to me that I spent my time looking for nursing spots in the shade and the most kid friendly places to get a snack rather than looking for cute guys or being goofy with friends. The kids had so much fun splashing around in the wave pool. Dylan went on his first water slide without a life jacket (or swimming jacket as Lincoln calls them) and has improved his swimming ability greatly this summer. Lincoln went on his first kiddie roller coaster with Daddy and had a great time. Warner veged out and had a great time considering it was about 94 degrees the day we decided to go, probably the hottest day all summer for the area!

The boys after their first ride of the day.

Warner kicking his big brothers.

I think Danielle had more fun than it looks like in the picture.

Waiting isn't the most fun part.

Whoops I guess I wasn't quite ready for this one, but Linc sure looks cute.

Showing off his muscles.

Dylan on the kangaroo ride.

Chubby baby feet.

Our view from the hotel window.
We stayed in a great hotel in Federal Way (the Clarion if you must know... we do recommend) that had a nice heated pool, great view of Mt. Rainier, and the fanciest continental breakfast area we had been to before. Staying in a hotel is always pretty cool since we don't do it often so of course we had to get ice in the ice bucket and fiddle around with all the cool stuff. Lincoln loved being able to pick up a good old fashion corded phone.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...

What the Happenings

Lincoln tried out Play-Doh for the first time a while ago. He really liked breaking it up into tiny pieces and trying to put it back in the container. And he didn't try to put it in his mouth too many times. As you can tell by the picture he got tired out from all the creativity pretty quickly so we'll try it again when he has a little more vigor for the squishy stuff. I think this picture is from our drive over to Richland a few weeks ago. We headed over there to visit Shane's grandma and the a bbq at his brothers house. The kids love pictures of themselves and Danielle took this picture of the both of them.  Waiting to get Shane's winter tires on the jeep, Lincoln had fun checking out the giant tires at Les Schwab. There was one big enough he could crawl into but he wasn't a fan of being shoved in there. He loves to climb and explore and get himself stuck, but only on his own accord. He does not like authority trying to tell him what to do (gee I wonder where ...
