First Field Trip

Well we took our first field trip today to Olmstead Place State Park in Ellensburg, WA. It is a restored farm from the 1800s and was pretty cool. They give guided tours on Saturdays and Sundays and I think you probably get to see a little more but we had fun just wandering around at our own pace. Dylan got to touch old tractors and plows. He couldn't believe that John Deere has been around that long. We got to see an old cabin that was originally used as a fort and an old well pump. There was also a pig that they found on the grounds a few months ago and no one has claimed so they've adopted her. Dylan and I also found some old wheat that we saved to use for a farmer art project. Dylan had a blast and couldn't believe that there are farms "in our life" meaning in reality. We also saw a giant herd of sheep and some cows on the way out too. At story time at the library the teacher even read books about the farm and we picked up some more to read at home. Boy oh boy what a farm-tastic day!

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Shopping Weekend

Danielle has Tolo coming up on Saturday the 16th and I am learning what a drag our little town of Ellensburg can be for finding a dress. Most of Saturday we spent looking at every single clothing store (ok there are only like 6 but still it took a while) then today we decided to try Yakima. Since it's over a 1/2 hour drive and the truck is definitely not gas friendly, Shane drove the Kia so we all went together. After 4 stores there we finally found her perfect dress. Cute cute, I'll have pictures for that next week but for now I have to take it in a little bit. They only had size medium and she is so tiny, but it shouldn't be too difficult with my handy sewing machine I got for Christmas. Dylan behaved like a gentleman and we even got to have a nice early dinner at Appleby's.
