Big Boy Hair Cut

If you've ever seen a picture of Lincoln you know he has some wild and crazy hair. I love his sweet wispy curls that fly all over the place. It gives him that cherub-ish look that disguises his wild and crazy personality. And unfortunately it was getting out of control. There was a slight mullet growing down the back of his neck. His bangs were constantly in his eyes. We finally decided to take him in for a hair cut. Yes I could have done it myself but I've screwed up many a Dylan haircut so Shane and I took him in together to get a "professional" hair cut. He HATED it. First we started with him on my lap in the chair. The stylist was able to squirt his hair a little and cut one snip before he started getting wiggly and fussy. Then Shane took over and held him in his arms. That's how most of the haircut went. After the ordeal there was maybe a palmful of hair cut off total, not much at all. But somehow my beautiful little boy looks so much more grown up. Then we realized we didn't take any pictures so luckily he still had a little good behavior left in him to pose for a couple of memories.

Really thinking about what just happened to him.
And yes that's a giant bruise across the bridge of his nose. This fearless little boy isn't afraid to wrestle the dog or climb on anything as high as he can get. I'm slightly dreading when he starts riding bikes and climbing trees.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...

New Moves

So I officially started feeling the baby moving around this week, Tuesday to be exact, and now I feel dancing all the time. It's pretty weird because it has been so long since I've housed a fetus and I know no one else can feel it from the outside, but it's really real. The picture I took on the left shows me holding a photo of a 17week baby to scale. It's hard to imagine something that big is fitting inside of me already :) We had the "Mom" talk today inside the Dollar Store. Danielle asked me if it was ok if she could call me Mom. She says I treat her the way a mom should treat her daughter and that made me so proud. I am so glad that even though we have our daily and weekly ups and downs that our family unit is really coming together.
