A Month of Thanksgiving: Day 15

The gift of a brother.

Half way through the month and I am so thankful for brother love. I love that my boys have siblings to play with and love on. Sure they poke and bite, irritate each other and get in plenty of trouble together but they also have each other for the great and even just good times which happen all the time. My older two boys have been sleeping together in the same full sized bottom bunk bed for quite a few months now by choice. This morning when I went to wake Dylan up for school they were talking to each other in their sleep. Something about not wanting to go into the water. Now that Danielle is all grown up and out of the house they don't get to play with her as much (plus she's not super into playing anymore) but not to worry because we had another baby to fill the gap. I get to see them being sweet to the baby and as Warner is growing up they are all interacting together. Dylan and Lincoln are so close even though they are 5 years apart in age. I hope they can continue to stay that way. As Warner gets to be able to run around and play I'm sure he will fit right in with the bunch. Even now when I am trying to finish up the laundry or some other task I will ask the boys to entertain the baby and they lovingly do. Sometimes they will even beg to hold him. I don't think that will last much longer but it is still sweet.

  1. They are so awesome and that is definitely something to be thankful for. I hope they grow up to love each others as adults as much as all you kids do.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...

New Moves

So I officially started feeling the baby moving around this week, Tuesday to be exact, and now I feel dancing all the time. It's pretty weird because it has been so long since I've housed a fetus and I know no one else can feel it from the outside, but it's really real. The picture I took on the left shows me holding a photo of a 17week baby to scale. It's hard to imagine something that big is fitting inside of me already :) We had the "Mom" talk today inside the Dollar Store. Danielle asked me if it was ok if she could call me Mom. She says I treat her the way a mom should treat her daughter and that made me so proud. I am so glad that even though we have our daily and weekly ups and downs that our family unit is really coming together.
