Graduation Time

Dylan is in the second row from the top, the third one in
It happened, I couldn't stop it. My little baby graduated kindergarten and there was nothing I could do to keep him from becoming a first grader. First Grade! All the kids are getting so smart and tall and toothless... Oh my gosh, first grade. I just can't get over it. Dylan is 6 now and just oh man I feel old. I accidentally set my camera funky when I was taking pictures so I didn't get great ones during the graduation but I think my mom got a few so I'll have to steal some from her. First grade ah!

Danielle is now a senior in high school. How did this little 14 year old squirt grow up to be a beautiful 17 year old senior already? I just don't know. She is driving over by herself to visit her mom for the first time for a week or two since it is the summer and it's a little nerve racking to just let them go. I guess that's what I've learned a lot about myself lately. Letting go. Sharing them with the rest of the world. I am not the only one who shapes their lives and I just have to realize that. Crazy to think about. The kids aren't mine really anyway. God gave them to me and can take them back at any time. I realized this even more as on the night of the kids' last day of school some high schoolers were up in the hills camping and partying and one of them accidentally drove off the road flipping the car and killing two people and leaving one in the hospital in serious condition. Danielle knew all three kids involved in the crash and it is so horrific to think this could happen to someone. Her best friend was really good friends with the boy that died so Danielle is trying really hard to be supportive of her friend during this time. Unfortunately life can be too short and this really makes me appreciate the time that I do have with all of my children, no matter how crazy they make me.

Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?

Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. I've been keeping it under wraps for no reason in particular but it's just too good not to share.  I don't have a reliable kitchen scale so this recipe uses good old fashion cups and goes a lot by the feeling of the dough. It will get messy but don't be discouraged if it doesn't turn out just right the first time. No matter the flop, these cinnamon rolls will never disappoint taste wise.  The PDF printable can be found here or you can keep reading.  Overnight Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls  The night before you want to make rolls: 8 Tablespoons cold butter, shredded (a whole stick) 2 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose or bread flour  1/2 cup sourdou...

What the Happenings

Lincoln tried out Play-Doh for the first time a while ago. He really liked breaking it up into tiny pieces and trying to put it back in the container. And he didn't try to put it in his mouth too many times. As you can tell by the picture he got tired out from all the creativity pretty quickly so we'll try it again when he has a little more vigor for the squishy stuff. I think this picture is from our drive over to Richland a few weeks ago. We headed over there to visit Shane's grandma and the a bbq at his brothers house. The kids love pictures of themselves and Danielle took this picture of the both of them.  Waiting to get Shane's winter tires on the jeep, Lincoln had fun checking out the giant tires at Les Schwab. There was one big enough he could crawl into but he wasn't a fan of being shoved in there. He loves to climb and explore and get himself stuck, but only on his own accord. He does not like authority trying to tell him what to do (gee I wonder where ...
