Goof Troop

I love seeing the kids play around with each other and goof off. I don't like the wrestling that always leads to someone getting hurt, but hey they are kids and they are going to do it whether I yell at them or not. Here are a couple of pictures from our silly times lately.  Man our family room, which has recently morphed into a room full of plastic toys and a giant tv sure gets a lot of use. Here Lincoln enjoys a nice cold drink of milk while relaxing in front of a cartoon that Dylan is watching. While in the area I took Danielle and her cousin Jordyn to the SuperMall to do some powershopping and let the boys hang out in the super fun play place for kids. There was tons of stuff to climb on and slide down so I figured it would give them a little time to get their wiggles out before the drive home over the mountains.  Dylan on top of "Mt. Rainier" Action shot of Dylan running, Lincoln picking at the carpet Lincoln climbing on a fish Daddy and Lincoln Aslee

Go meatless!

No don't worry I'm not going vegetarian, it's just another way the Sadler Family is trying to save money. I made some sort of yummy sandwich a few weeks ago. Grilled tomatoes and eggplant on a day old baguette with fresh basil from our garden topped with a few slices of mozarella cheese. Was it a huge hit with Dylan? Not really. But it ate it all and I loved it. Plus skipping meat a meal or two a week really saves the big bucks in the long run and we are actually eating pretty healthy too.

MOPS Rodeo Parade

I got to be in my first parade at the beginning of the month. MOPS partnered with Bounce Central, a local bounce house place where kids can jump around on inflatable jumpers while their moms hope to enjoy the company of another mom friend, and we got to be on a float in the parade. So exciting. I love the small town of Ellensburg. We got to pass out candy to the people watching, and hopefully we brought some new moms in to our group.  Today was our first meeting of the 2011/2012 year and it went spectacularly! Lincoln was not a fan of staying in child care but he never has been and I will just keep trying until he thinks it's fun. Mommy doesn't like wrangling a fussy buns while she is trying to spend adult time with her friends. Anyway back to the meeting, it was great, did I say that yet? My table had three new moms at it and three who I already know and get along with well. My mentor mom is the same one I had last year and I am just stoked that this year is going to be so awe

Anniversary trip

Ah the Market, no trip to Seattle is complete without a visit here Looking out over the Puget Sound There was sun in Seattle, can you see us squinting? So romantic. Space Needle - 50 years since the world's fair was in Seattle  Our anniversary trip was pretty awesome. It was the first time we had both left all three kids overnight at the same time. First of all we used priceline.com to book our hotel room. They have this nifty bid on a room feature and we ended up getting our room more than 50% off of what they normally go for. When you put in a bid you don't get to pick the hotel, just the star rating and general location. We ended up staying at the Sheraton in Down Town Seattle. Valet parking, helpful staff, beautiful rooms, it was pretty sweet! When we were checking in I somehow blabbed to the lady that it was our anniversary. Hours later when we got to our room from exploring downtown there was a bottle of champagne, two glasses and a note that said &quo

Frumpy Mom :(

I have really been trying to make a effort to not look so crappy lately. I stay home and play with kids all day. I am finally done nursing the youngest so I don't have to wear such easy access shirts anymore and I've also lost the last of the baby weight but I still just play on the carpet, slave in the kitchen and force the kids to do their homework. On the slight chance that I might see someone besides a neighbor or those previously mentioned kids I will put make up on and try to find an "outfit." Below are two pictures where I felt like I looked pretty good. Why shouldn't I look put together? Especially since I have been married for three whole years now and still want to impress my husband every now and then. In Seattle on our Anniversary Trip At the Ellensburg Fair with cowboy Dylan And then I go grocery shopping the first time since school has started and I am feeling pretty confidant in my look when I leave the house. Only half way through my trip I

Remembering the Past

Today marks the ten year anniversary when the US suffered it's single largest terrorist attack when two planes crashed into the World Trade Center towers and the Pentagon as well. Ten years have past and just watching clips still makes me cry. This morning Dylan and I watched a show called 102 Minutes That Changed America where they pieced together home and professional video clips to show minute by minute what happened in New York after the first plane crashed into the buildings. It was heart breaking to have to explain to Dylan how some bad people decided that they would try to kill as many people as possible. It gave us chances to talk about how people were so confused and hurt but worked together to try to take care of the people around them. We talked about terrorism. This is something I would normally not want to talk to a six year old about. We also talked about heroism and patriotism and what we can do to remember those who died. I don't have a personal connection to 9/

End of the Summer Fun

Fort Central  Dylan and his buddy built a giant fort in our living room where Lincoln promptly figured out a way to build his own sky light. Boys in the Bath Action Squirting Shot  "I want that"  Dylan got his face painted at the Farmer's Market a few weeks ago and Lincoln helped him decide on what to get. Watch out Mike Tyson  Dylan decided to get a tribal type tattoo which is probably one of my favorites he's ever received. Yellow Watermelon  Word to the wise, if you buy a watermelon from the farmer's market in town, make sure you like surprises, when you are expecting a normal pink/red colored seedless melon and you cut in to find this it is quite a shock. Luckily it was super sweet and yummy. Relaxing Lincoln was quiet for a few minutes and I knew something must be going on so I walked ran into the living room and found him quietly watching tv with a drink in hand. Oh my. Brother Love Can you just feel the love in this picture

Ah School

It is bittersweet. Both of the older kids started school today. Lincoln is napping and I feel like I've lost a whole year of time. Where did that time go? A senior and a first grader, man life just keeps going. The days leading up to today have been crazy and hectic and wacky but fun. Today is the first day I can try and get back into a routine with Lincoln and also get back into getting things done for myself. My list of goals has sat nearly untouched over the summer just because I was trying to spend time with everyone and keep the masses happy. This year I am not taking any classes or doing much outside of the family. I will be involved in MOPS again, help with the kids school stuff and I think I am going to start going to the women's Bible study near the end of the month. Other than that I will just be honing my homemaking skills and playing with Lincoln. Yesterday after we said goodbye to our out of town guests (my mom's aunt and uncle who live in California) we loung

Destructor

Lincoln is quite the little handy man. He likes to investigate how everything works... and then break it. Here he is playing with a leaf/stem from a nice plant we had in the "fancy" room. So far the plant has lost about 5 branches. Luckily he is so darn cute.
