Crafty Christmas Inexpensive Gifts

I was going to say cheap gifts... but hopefully the receiver of the gift doesn't think so, so inexpensive to me just means that the person giving would rather spend time on thought rather than money, right? So here are just a few of the things I have been up to lately... Still have a few more ideas to finish but I am getting close and with only 18 days left, it's about time!

Iron on transfers. I love them. They are so fun! And I love personalizing things. So my previous experiences haven't been 100% great with transfers but hey I'm not selling my stuff to the public so I think it's ok. I used them to make two tote bags (luckily the receiver of the aunt bag below is not my sister Jackie... so don't get your hopes up!) a super hero cape and a baby gift. If you search printable transfers or iron-ons there are tons of cute ideas everywhere. Next time I buy transfer paper I am getting clear though because the white didn't work as great as I had hoped but still ok. Out of two pieces of paper I was able to squeeze enough things for four gifts. 

Because every little boy needs a cape made out of his moms' old tube top. Yes I actually have wore a tube top in my pre-nursing/kids day. I haven't hemmed up the edges or anything so if he actually ends up using this after Christmas I will clean it up a little. Plus it took me like 20 minutes total to make including typing the template, cutting said shirt and ironing on. I did throw it in the laundry room because Dylan walked in the door, but it still worked out great. 
And finally a little something for myself. I saw this great idea for grapevine wreaths and knew I had seen some at the Dollar Tree recently. So I went and picked some (maybe I made some as gifts, you will never know!) and a spool of ribbon, of course for $1. I followed the tutorial on the website using an old t-shirt that no longer covers the mom pooch and a pair of Christmas socks to make the fabric blooms and ta-da, what a cute, and cheap way to liven up our door way. Plus since I didn't spray pain the wreath silvery and glittery like I was thinking about, it can last a few seasons, or all year long!

I've been tweaking this overnight sourdough cinnamon roll recipe over the last few months and I think it's finally, exactly, the way I like it. We love this for slow weekend mornings, to take to family and friends, or for special holiday get togethers. It's also the same recipe I use when making them to sell locally. Oh Lovely Chicken Divan

Today marks my last official planned freezer cooking day for now in preparation for the new baby. I might end up making something next month, but really the freezers are getting quite full and until we eat down some things, it's quite a tight squeeze at the moment. Chicken divan, if you've never had it, oh you are missing out! This was probably the most requested birthday dinner in our house growing up and it is one of my ultimate comfort foods. It has vegetables, kids like it, and it really isn't that expensive to make either. It takes a little time because of the different layers so doubling it is a great time saver anyway (or if you have a smallish family just put half in one pan and half in a different pan for another meal. Keeping up with the Sadlers

Lincoln favorite new past time, listen closely for "Dada"  Dylan had cowboy day at school and could dress up and meet "real cowboys". We live in a hick town and his school was having an assembly about the cowboy way , or having character. Yes, Lincoln's bib is purplish, but it says I Love my Sister so it's ok :)  Cute big boy outfit Auntie Jackie got Lincoln, while sticking out his tongue. I think it looks like a little pickle. Weird, another tongue shot, he does it a lot. While playing with a plush orange (like the fruit) it sort of landed like this and I thought it looked a little like a bikini top and snapped a pic. Hey you have to have fun with life right?
